PT-400
High productivity and cost effectiveness
PT-400 guarantees high productivity in terms of both performance and its cost:productivity ratio.
PT-400 has also been designed to keep maintenance costs to a minimum: the easy access to the engine and various integrated components simplifies operations and reduces machine downtime.
Low ground pressure
The tracks on PT-400 are made by Berco to PrimeTech’s design.
The width of each track – made in heavy duty steel – is 800 mm, designed to ensure an extraordinarily low ground pressure of 0.35 kg/ cm² - 4,95 psi (with lifted mulching head) – the lowest on the market! This keeps you working when other prime movers cannot go forward anymore. The two tracks are oscillating to make sure they adjust to the ground even if the surface is not even or flat and thus facilitates driving and steering and ensures optimum control of the vehicle even in extreme working conditions.
In this way PT-400 guarantees high performance on any type of terrain.
Reliability and reduced downtime
The high reliability guaranteed by PT-400 stems from PrimeTech’s inheritance of the FAE Group’s 20 years’ experience in the area of specific technologies for forestry applications.
To this can be added the use of components supplied exclusively by companies which lead the field in quality standards (Caterpillar, Sauer Danfoss, Berco, Parker, FAE).
PT-400 concentrates on the best technological solutions, which are perfectly integrated.
The primary aim of the engineers who work on the development of PT-400 is to use their experience and competence to combine high technology with ease of use.Every stage of production and every component undergo strict quality control and fault-detecting processes: that’s why PT-400 will never leave you stranded!
Driver comfort and safety
The concept of ergonomics in the PT-400 is a direct consequence of design choices that are oriented to maximize efficiency and functionality: we all work better and with greater precision when the tool is designed to be easy and comfortable to use.
The operator’s comfort translates into greater safety and better job performance.
Jump on the PT-400 and sit in the control cabin!
You will understand what we mean by world class comfort and safety: air conditioning, comfortable driver’s seat, ROPS/FOPS-tested driver’s cabin, roll-bar, standard anti-fire-system, standard air-shut-off-system, Lexan-Margard windows, etc.
Besides comfort and ergonomics, a series of important details and technical solutions make sure you work in complete safety.
Characteristics
Diesel engine
The heart of PT-400 is a Caterpillar C13 Acert turbo diesel engine of 385 HP.
The designers’ choice of the most important component on the machine was guided by the aim of ensuring high performance also for the heaviest duty applications without losing quality, reliability and without affecting maintenance costs.
The result is that the engine is easily accessible and meets the needs of PT-400.
Hydraulic transmission
The choice of hydraulic transmission has a series of advantages that distinguish PT-400 from PTO-driven vehicles:
Sauer Danfoss pumps and motors have been chosen bearing in mind not only perfect integration with the other main components on PT-400, but also the heavy-duty work the vehicle is designed for; in particular:
for track transmission 75 cc (4.6 in?) pumps are used, together with motors with proportional displacement of 110 cc (6.7 in?), working pressure of 420 bar (6090 psi) and oil flow of 314 l/min (77 gpm)
for mulcher transmission 250 cc (15.3 in?) pumps are used, together with motors with fixed displacement of 130 cc (7.9 in?), working pressure of 210 bar (3045 psi) and oil flow of 550 l/min (141 gpm)
Electronics/ software
The electronic components – supplied by Sauer – are designed to provide smooth control of the vehicle and adapt to the specific working and environmental conditions.
PT-400 comes with 2 electronic control units: this makes it possible to avoid the risk of the machine stopping.
An illuminated easily read display, ergonomically installed in the driver’s cabin and easily accessed, gives all the basic information regarding the vehicle’s operation.
The parameters shown on the display can be read and edited/set by the operator according to needs.
The display also shows faults, so that the operator can immediately identify any anomalies.
Cabin
In designing PT-400 maximum importance is given to aspects of ergonomics and comfort.
In particular, the PT-400 cabin is designed to guarantee the greatest comfort for operators: its strong points are a level of sound-proofing that is the highest on the market (78 dB when working!), spacious interior.
Other ergonomic and comfort aspects that make the PT-400 cabin a top quality work place are the position and ease of use of joysticks, display and control panel, the air conditioning system, comfortable adjustable driver’s seat which is heated and air suspended.
Of course the cabin is ROPS/FOPS tested.
Safety
1. Every PT-400 comes with a manual fire extinguishing system, which can be activated by simply pressing a button located in the cabin.
2. Air-shut-off system
Safety on PT-400 is further ensured by another important control system in critical situations: the air-shut-off system. The system is integrated with the diesel engine, which immediately automatically shuts off fuel to the engine if the rpm rises and goes out of control (e.g. the engine sucks in a mix of air and gas when working in gas fields and the rpm goes up to 2,500 or over).
3. Lexan-Margard windshields
The cabin windows, supplied by Lexan-Margard, are made in highly shock-proof and scratch resistant material, which ensures maximum protection for the operator from falling trees, branches or brush.
4. ROPS-FOPS-tested
The PT-400 cabin is also ROPS-FOPS-tested to ensure maximum protection for the operator.
5. Roll-bar
The roll-bar on the PT-400 protects the vehicle and the operator from falling trees.
6. Driver emergency exit
The cabin also has an emergency exit on top which can be used in the event of danger or in particularly hazardous situations (e.g. working in swampy areas).
7. Rear-view-camera (option)
The comfort and safety of working are further guaranteed by the optional video camera that automatically shows the rear view on the cabin display when the vehicle is reversing.
Tracks
The tracks on PT-400 are made by Berco to PrimeTech’s design. Made in heavy duty steel, they guarantee high performance, durability and ease of maintenance on any type of terrain.
In order to facilitate maintenance operations, components subject to wear are standard and easily found anywhere in the world.
The tracks are oscillating to make sure they adjust to the ground even if the surface is not levelled or flat: this facilitates driving and steering and ensures optimum control of the vehicle even in extreme working conditions.
The width of each track is 800 mm, designed to ensure an extraordinary low ground pressure of 0.35 kg/cm? - 4,95 psi (with listed mulching head).
Front attachment
The PT-400 front attachment, made by FAE, provides high quality operations and reliability, and is adaptable to our customers’ various needs and working conditions.
The rotor is designed so that only one tooth at a time is grinding, making its work more effective than that carried out with the hammers all in a straight line: there are fewer vibrations and the operation is smoother and more regular, with less wear and tear on the vehicle and its components (engine, gearboxes, …).
Compared to PTO-driven vehicles the PT-400 front attachment guarantees a wider working area and greater application flexibility.
Application flexibility is also ensured by the possibility to choose from different types of rotor that are similar in design philosophy, but distinguished with regard to their specific use in diverse fields of application, and their performance:
FAE 500/U mulching head:
forestry mulcher with fixed teeth rotor suitable for heavy duty forestry applications:
Great application flexibility in any operating condition is ensured by the possibility of fitting different front attachments with various tool profiles. All front attachments, made by FAE, are designed to meet our customers’ specific requirements of.
